Chelsea Market - NYC Top Ten List

Chelsea Market is a truly unique shopping experience. It is a treasure trove of gourmet shops in intimate nooks and crannies. They are  housed in the historic building that was built for National Biscuit Company (now Nabisco) in the1890's. Each is unique and appetizing.

You can spend a wonderful day exploring the shops, eating lunch and taking home fun and varied selections for dinner. One vendor specializes in flavored salt and wonderful vinegar, another dozens of varieties of nuts, one stall has fresh flowers and another features handmade crepes. Other delicacies include fruit and vegetables straight from local farms, freshly baked bread, biscuits and jam, gelato and hot cookies.

A present from Chelsea Market Baskets will be greatly appreciated. They have a delightful selection of gourmet items to fill their wonderful baskets with.

Lucy's Whey is a cheese lover's dream. In addition to  their selection of unique artisanal cheese from around the world, they offer various grilled cheese panini. All are served on Amy's Bread's ciabatta with a drizzle of estate-grown, extra-virgin Portuguese olive oil.  I enjoyed their classic sandwich of melted sharp Prairie Breeze Cheddar (Milton Creamery, Iowa), a spread of Spanish figs and  honey.

The dramatic interior of this wonderful building.
Chelsea Market is unlike any building constructed today.

Spices and Tease offers a dizzying array of tea and unique spices from around the globe.

The Clambake from "The Lobster Place" comes with a Maine lobster, Prince Edward Mussels, steamers, little neck clams, new potatoes and corn. Even crackers and bibs are included to take home.
If you cannot wait to get home, you can have your lobster steamed on site to enjoy immediately.

Pryor Events are definitely fans of Chelsea Market.
